20th December 2013 Windsurfing: Levington Wind Direction: sw Wind Stength: 8/12 Surf / Sea State: flatish Air Temperature: 5 Sea Temperature: 8 Weather: sunny Max Speed: 15.97 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 18 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Another day the forecast 20 mph falled to make it to Felixstowe :( I arrived at Levington at 10 ish and rigged 8.5 optimistically for the longboard although only 5 degrees it was a beautiful sunny day :) I set off down river to the bay before turning and heading up river to the Orwell Bridge but it was a slow beat in the light airs !!! I even managed to sail under the bridge and back without falling in !!! I then checked out the Stand which might work for speedsailing in a gale !!! before heading back to Levington, the highlight being the many hundreds of waders in the air as I sailed past the creeks :) The trip took three hours and after a quick break I thought the wind had picked up but sadly not enough and I spent another hour sailing across the bay looking for a gust and 20 kts - I failed :( |
